If you are not making payments, you may see balances continue to grow with new fees and interest. This is a normal part of the process. Any incurred fees or interest will be reduced and settled as part of the final agreement with your creditor.

Our most successful clients limit any interactions with creditors and collectors. This is a decision that you must make on your own. Remember, you are in control of your communication, not them.

Program FAQs

Why Choose American Debt Relief?

American Debt Relief is a trusted leader in the Debt Settlement industry and is licensed in every state it operates. We have helped thousands of clients become debt-free.

American Debt Relief uses an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to determine exactly which debt to settle and when to give you the maximum advantage possible.

Although some offers come in sooner, most clients can expect to see their first settlement offer within 3 – 6 months. As soon as we receive an offer, we will reach out to let you know. We recommend adding our number (800-976-4872) to your contacts, so you don’t miss our call!

We’ll notify you via text and email of any offers received from your creditors. You can also review this information via your portal. You’ll have an opportunity to accept or reject offers. Offers that represent a predetermined and approved percentage of your debt or less will be accepted unless we hear from you within 48 hours of our notification.

We recommend adding our phone number (800-976-4872) to your phone and regularly checking your email and your portal.

Receiving calls or letters from creditors is a sign that they are feeling pressure to collect as much as possible before they settle your account. You must make the independent decision to stop making payments to your creditors as well as discontinue any autopays you have set up so that we can show your hardship. Please note that we are not instructing you to avoid your creditors. That decision is completely up to you.

To review your rights and what creditors are allowed and not allowed to do, please review the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

We understand that it can be very stressful and frustrating to receive collection calls and unwanted collection letters. Our most successful clients limit their interactions with creditors and collectors. This is a decision that must be made on your own. Remember, you are in control of your communication with a creditor.

If you choose to interact with a creditor or collector, here's a helpful sample script:
  • Client: Hello?
  • Creditor: We are calling on behalf of ABC Bank regarding your credit card account. You are 60 days delinquent. Why haven’t you made a payment?
  • Client: Unfortunately, I am unable to make a payment at this time. If my circumstances change I will contact you. Thank you and goodbye.
  • Creditor: If you don’t make a payment soon, I will be forced to take further action and your account will be charged off.
  • Client: As I mentioned, I am unable to make a payment at this time. If things change I will contact you. Goodbye.

In your welcome call, a debt consultant will review your program details, tips for success, your American Debt Relief team, dealing with creditors, budgeting, and common questions. You will most likely see some initial impact to your credit score, and this is expected as we work through demonstrating your hardship to creditors. Your credit can be restored and bounce back over time. Getting debt free is the first step toward rebuilding your credit.

Credit will typically be updated within a few months after each settlement has been completed. Engaging in good credit behavior, like paying your mortgage/car on time, can also help your credit improve faster.

Yes, your statement balances will continue to incur interest/fee charges due to you no longer submitting monthly minimum payments. However, these charges will be factored into the final balance that will be negotiated down.

No, you don't have to have the total balance saved. Once we've come to an agreed settlement with the creditor, we'll work out a payment plan with the creditor and use the funds from your Global Savings Account.

In order to be successful in your goal of achieving financial freedom, you should create a budget for yourself. Your online portal contains a budget tool to help keep us informed and your program up-to-date with balances and payments.

A personal budget is a financial plan which sets limits on the amount of money spent on each category of expenses in a given month. Most budgets include the amount of income being received, outstanding debt to be paid, retirement savings and an emergency fund. There are many budgeting programs online available for free. Steps: 1) Create a list of monthly income, 2) Create a list of monthly expenses, 3) See where you can cut back on expenses, 4) Adjust as necessary.

We know it can be hard to avoid using your credit card(s) but an important part of the debt negotiation process is for you to stop engaging with your credit card companies. The longer you disengage from your credit cards, the better and quicker we are able to negotiate for you and secure a lower debt amount. Remember, your program was designed specifically for you to make sure you can succeed without having to use credit cards.

Our most successful clients do choose to switch their primary banking from any creditor that is enrolled to a separate institution. This is to avoid a bank conflict and to protect your money from being collected without your authorization. Not all banks take this action, however this is a precaution that can help ensure you avoid this experience.

You have a savings account established at Global Holdings. Your monthly payments will fund this dedicated savings account in your name. Payments for authorized settlements will be sent from this Global Holdings account to the creditors. We can only settle your debts if sufficient savings funds have been contributed.

Generally, the more funds you are able to save, the faster you will be able to complete the program. If you miss any monthly savings contributions, it will affect the length of your program. Your plan will end once all of your enrolled accounts have been resolved. Remember, you do not owe us anything until an account is successfully resolved!

If you think you'll have trouble making your payment it's important you contact us as soon as possible.

Debt Settlement companies offer programs that help you settle your debt for less than your outstanding balance. With these programs, participants make monthly deposits into a savings account. Once enough money accumulates, this account is used to negotiate lower settlements with creditors. This is done one account at a time until each one is settled and all debts are cleared.

With Debt Settlement, the timeline to get debt-free is much faster than with other options, typically only 24-36 months.

Debt settlement can be a good option for individuals who cannot afford to pay back what they owe and want help to become debt-free for less than they owe.

One limitation for Debt Settlement is that it is not a solution for secured debts such as a mortgage, auto loan or home equity loan. Since these debts are secured by collateral, creditors will not be willing to settle your balance for less. If you’re reading this, we've already accepted your debts, created your plan, and are working to get you debt-free!

When you’re struggling with high interest credit card or other unsecured debts, Debt Settlement might allow you to pay off your debt sooner for a fraction of what you owe. Because Debt Settlement companies are negotiating with creditors to settle for less than you owe, the timeline to get debt-free is much faster than with other options, typically only 24-36 months.

A federal law that governs debt collection practices, the FDCPA prohibits debt collection companies from using abusive, unfair or deceptive practices to collect debts.
